BarberOsgerby is an industrial design studio that is located in London. This studio was established in the year 1996 by two young British furniture designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. These two popular industrial designers have created and designed a wide range of products ranging from furniture to lighting as well as have tried their hand out at product designs. Both these designers are Royal Designers for Industry (RDI). They have Honorary Doctors in Arts degree and are also recipients of the Jerwood Applied Arts prize. Osgerby is also an Honorary Fellow of Ravensbourne. Barber and Osgerby are also founders of Universal Design Studio, which is an industrial design consultancy that focuses on design strategy. This is also an interior design and architecture studio and is one of the most popular design studios in London.  

Edward Barber was born in 1969 in Shrewsbury in England and graduated in interior design from Leeds Polytechnic. Jay Osgerby was also born in 1969 in Oxford in England and did his foundation art program at Oxford Brookes University. He later also studied product design at London’s Ravensbourne College. Both of them also studied at London's Royal College of Art for their Master’s degree and this is where these two friends met. After their Master’s degree, Baber and Osgerby set up their studio IN west London’s Trellick Tower and designed their first furniture piece called ‘The Loop Table’ for Isokon. The Loop table was an instant hit and featured at the London Design Fair in 1997 and also was introduced to the popular Italian furniture producer Cappellini’s collection in 1998. After this there was not looking back for this British designers as a lot of their products that they developed later on got their international acclaim and they became overnight design stars of the world.  

Barber and Osgerby have developed some of the best collections of their designing career for poplar firms like: Magis, Flos, Vitra, Swarovski, B&B Italia, Cappellini, Venini and Established & Sons.
