Iskos-Berlin Autobiography And Furniture Designs

Iskos Berlin though sounds like a name is basically a teaming up between two great designers that come with a huge repository of design talent and experience in furniture design. One among them, Aleksej Iskos, was born in 1965 in Kharkiv and Boris Berlin was born in 1953 in St.Petersberg. Boris Berlin did his graduation from the Institute of Applied Arts and Design in St.Petersberg in Leningrad- Russia. And, Aleksej Iskos comes with a great background in design from Danmark Designskole Institute of Industrial design; Kharkiv National University of Pedgogics, Department of Artistic Education; Kharkiv State Technical University of Building and Architecture, Architecture Department. Boris is also popularly known as one half of the popular design team Komplot Design which has so far received many rewards and awards for furniture design. It is through Komplot Design that brought the both of them together and since then they have been working together gelling well like swings in the jazz-tune. Aleksej started off as a trainee at Komplot Design and then as an assistant. Their work has got nothing to do with heir belonging to the then Soviet Union.

Though they both work together in 2010, they are different in many aspects. Aleksej is lazy, impatient and ego-centric- the qualities that are present in a good designer, Whereas Boris is tenacious, impatient, selfless and hard-working. They gain inspiration for design from everywhere and anywhere- from nature, exhibitions, architecture, from lively conversations and many other things. They also strongly place their belief on the dictum that furniture design is like storytelling, the clearer and interesting the story is, the better the people will understand it. One of their first product together was for Bla Station, that focused on the imperfect, letting you know what can happen if you let go. Generally design pertains to being in full control over the functions, materials and forms of the objects. But this duo feel that this western influence can be changed by making things a little flexible through letting the objects behave in the way would. This led to the development of a fresh design theme in sofas called Spook. Spook is a design array in the sofas category that has served in opposition to the age old trend of perfection in design that allows no compromise in the perfection department. Another product that they have come up with is a flat-felt mat that is designed in a 3D fashion and can be folded in different ways and a bunny chair that is fresh interpretation of the classic ear chair. When we look at their funky designs, we can imagine how comfortable they could be. You can simply rest your head on either sides of the head rest that look like the ears of a bunny, which is quite cheeky and lovable yet comfortable. So, if comfort is on your priority list, then you should look for Iskos- Berlin furniture. These furniture’s are extra ordinary as per their model and appearance.
