Marc Berthier – A Designer Biography

 

Marc Berthier is a designer and an architect who has been associated with Elium Studio. He was awarded the prestigious Le Grand Prix National Award for his contribution to industrial design. He was also awarded with the most desired award in Italy for designers called “Compasso d' Orro”. He has also received a series of other awards, “Le Prix Gabriele”, and the “Medaille de | ' Art et | industrie in France, Design Plus Award and the Form Design Award in Germany and the New York Accent Award in the USA. Not only this, the designer has achieved so much reputation that his collections are put up at the most prestigious exhibits such as the National Museum of Modern Art in the New York,   the Museum of decorative Arts and the Fond National d' Art Contemporian in France. This portrays his achievements as a designer and his wide reach globally.

Some of his past projects involve the home design of the family of an editor in Osaka, Japan. Being a senior designer teaching design to the students of the present generation has always remained one of his forte and will continue to be so in the future. He is currently associated with a studio called “Elium” that was founded in 2002 by a group of designers including Bertier. The other designers in the Elium group include Elise Bertier, Pierre Garner, Frederic Lintz and the last designer to join the team was Anne Klepper. The team's goal is to merge the mastery of new technologies with the application of industrial design techniques and getting it with quest for lightness in the designed products. The design practice of Elium Studio knows no bounds- that are to mean that they imbibe all the elements of design, using all kinds of design instruments, apply all kinds of sciences and techniques both industrial and ingenious. The range of design at Elium involves, domestic to personal use accessories, interior design to connected objects, and scenography to other miscellaneous artifacts.

Another landmark collaboration of the designer has been with the Lexon for over more than sixteen years. He stated that his collaboration with Lexon has given him an opportunity to develop and produce design objects in various areas of industrial design. His design projects at Lexon have revolved round various utilities such as home and office accessories, gardening and travel and other leisure objects. This huge range of design is indeed a coherent unit of design that his work involves.

Some of the many miscellaneous objects of utility that he created include, electronic appliances, miscellaneous accessories such as LCD alarm, folding chair, Tykho radio, galaxy calculator, Pen cup, key light, pocket light, USBs, pen sets, watches, badminton rackets, umbrella and others that are used in our day-day life.
