When she was contacted, this is what she had to say, “It is the intuitive feeling for the nature of the material and the sensuousness of the form that is important to me. I’m always trying to work out a form that I feel speaks to your senses. You have to feel like touching the form /design and feel joy in surrounding yourself with it in your daily life”. Among her many designs, are, kitchen utensils and utilities such as Kontra fruits and Salad Bowl, Georg Jenson- Thermo Jug, Rig Tig Sushi set, Stelton Kontra mini bowls and others. Among the other articles, she has designed seasoned candle holders, stand wall wardrobe, Rosendahl Wall paper and traditional hanger and a few more. Maria believes that designing is communicating and a successful design is always easy to understand. She feels “designing a quality product is optimizing its form and function through detail.” She is aware of quality and uses her strong intuition while creating new designs. For her design is all about handling emotions and incorporating the same in the design forms. Computer can only give finishing touches to a good spadework. She strongly feels that her design should touch the users' senses. Apart from looking attractive the shapes used in the design should go well with the human constitution as in they must serve the ergonomics well. Poor ergonomics can damage the utility quotient of the product. With a technical apprenticeship with the National Workshops for Art and Handicraft, Maria received her knowledge and skills. Her study in art history at the National University gained her with hr theoretical concepts. She attaches great importance to intuition and learning processes during her study and work.
