Tom Rossau designer of TR7 Pendant Light

Self taught Danish designer Tom Rossau (B. 1970) started his job in the basement of his moms and dad's home in Faarevejle, Denmark. Building all type of work out of whatever was at hand, like all children do. LEGO was the major buddy to his brilliant creative imagination. In the 90's Tom picked up the thread where he 'd left it some years prior to. He started to stitch and develop leather clothing and eventually opened up the store in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1997. Given that 2004 Tom has actually worked mainly with natural wood veneers. In the beginning these lights were just offered from the shop on Istedgade in Copenhagen, however in 2006 the TR4-TR7 was introduced to a wider audience at Copenhagen Furniture Exhibition, where the TR7 obtained the "Audience Favorite Award ".The company is expanding Tom still holds on to the center. And the center is design. In Tom's own words: "The design process is in fact quite egocentric to me. It might be that the end consumer gets his/her need covered by the product, however in all sincerity I do for the kick that it provides me. It's very a thrill to acquire a suggestion out of the blue, to work with it, to get mesmerized in it, to be absolutely taken in by the details from the very early illustrations over prototypes and on production. Then there's the magic encounter when the product intended to do one model suddenly starts misbehaving and uncovers unintentional characteristics and all there is to do is to dive right in and explore these brand-new opportunities. Inspiration comes from throughout, but the resolution procedure of restrictions and potentials of products can be so intriguing. At times it would be more appropriate to describe the material as the designer and I the simple aid, retrieving screws and attaching lose ends ...With sustainability, performance, and electricity intake as obvious problems of all layout, it ends up being an even more interesting task to comply with the needs of completion customer. All in all I'm a company follower in accident and improvement of the aspect of play in all design.".With annual exhibitions at IMM Cologne and the Northern Light Fair in Stockholm the variety of merchants sharing in the Tom Rossau story is broadening quickly.
