Serge Mouille created his angular, insect-like illuminations as "a response to the Italian versions that were starting to attack the market in 1950," which he slammed for being "also difficult." One-Arm Floor Lamp (1953) is a less-imposing analysis of his initial Three-Arm Floor Lamp and preserves the original's kinetic, sculptural aesthetic. All of his lights options include Mouille's characteristic signatures as a developer: the method the arms are signed up with to the diffusers, the washer and six-sided screw hardware, the form of the reflectors, and the polished lines of the steel tubing.
